A 150-year-old antique wedding dress that was lost after a dry cleaners went bust has been located. Hooray for finding things!
12th Feb, 2017 - Donald Drumpf mistaken for Alec Baldwin's SNL impersonation by international newspaper
This is too delicious. A newspaper in the Dominican Republic has printed an article about Donald Drumpf and have used a picture of Alec Baldwin as Trump in an SNL parody - a portrayal that Drumpf famously hates - instead of the real orange fascist.
11th Feb, 2017 - New solar glitter can make virtually anything solar powered
"MEPV draws on microdesign and microfabrication techniques to create the tiny solar cells that are then are released into a solution much like printing ink. The mix is then printed onto an inexpensive material. mPower will commercialize MEPV as Dragon SCALEs, which Sandia says will “fit into and power devices or sensors of any shape or size."
Or, in other words, solar glitter.
10th Feb, 2017 - Adventure cat gets baby brother
I don't know enough about cats to know if this is cruel or not, but taking cats travelling with you makes for super cute photos, and adding a baby cat on top is the icing on the cake.
9th Feb, 2017 - Sainsbury's is selling same-sex Valentine's Day cards for the first time ever
Good work, Sainbury's. Sure, gay-friendly products are undoubtedly great for business, but who cares. Let's enjoy capitalism and inclusivity being in alignment - it's a good way to affect change.
8th Feb, 2017 - White House rattled by McCarthy's spoof of Spicer
So the above video is fucking gold, and if you haven't watched it already - treat yo self.
Once you've watched it, know the power of satire in an unstable regime, as sources close to President Drumpf say he "doesn't like his people to look weak".
The whole thing just reeks of Schadenfreude - read the piece here and feel delight.
7th Feb, 2017 - “Donaeld The Unready” tweets as if Drumpf is a mad medieval king
Fascist dictators have always been fertile ground for satire, and Donald Drumpf is no different. This fantastic twitter account imagines him as an unhinged medieval royal "Donaeld The Unready", who is obsessed with illegal Danes, draining the fens, and, wonderfully, Bede.
6th Feb, 2017 - Here Are the Things Proven To Make You Happier
Some great tips for feeling happier in your life. Even though lots of your mood will be determined by your genes, it's good to know there are some things you can work on.
5th Feb, 2017 - Man Who Saved 669 Children During The Holocaust Has No Idea They’re Around Him
Nicholas Winton, who amongst many things was knighted and lived to be 106, also saved 669 mostly Jewish children from the holocaust in 1939, on the eve of World War 2, by getting them to Britain.
He appeared on UK TV programme That's Life! in 1988, unaware that he was surrounded by people whose lives he'd saved all those years ago. He'd never told anyone he saved all these people; his wife simply found it one of his old scrapbooks, years later.
Watch the video. It's just beautiful.
4th Feb, 2017 - Qantas advert couple marry 18 years later
Ok, so I'm reliably informed by my Australian friends that this is a Big Deal. And I don't want to be too UK-centric.
So there was this ad from '99 featuring the above ghost children in places around the world singing an - admittedly rousing - song about how Australia is home. It advertised Qantas, which is a good airline, and made people feel fuzzy. Seems legit.

One of those lists, but worth looking over, even if the headlines are pretty vague. Some cool-sounding news though.
2nd Feb, 2017 - North Carolina teacher has personalised handshakes with each of his students.
This guy is such a champion is makes me want to cry.
1st Feb, 2017 - Warm Welcome for Syrians in a Country About to Ban Them
"On Friday afternoon, a group of suburban synagogue members clustered at O’Hare International Airport, waiting to greet one of the last Syrian refugee families to be accepted in the United States, to give them the warmest possible welcome to a country that no longer wanted their kind.
In Washington, the presidential limousine was already speeding toward the Pentagon, where President Drumpf would sign a paper officially slamming the door shut on Syrian refugees. But here the volunteers had yellow roses, more warm coats than the newcomers would need and, a few miles away, an apartment ready with a doormat that said “welcome” in 17 languages."
31st Jan, 2017 - Lebanon Court Rules Homosexuality Not A Crime
Great work, Lebanon. A much-needed shot in the arm of openness.
"On January 26, 2017, a Metn court judge, Judge Rabih Maalouf, declared that “homosexuality is a personal choice, and not a punishable offense”.
30th Jan, 2017 - Squatters turn oligarch's empty London property into homeless shelter
"A veteran group of squatters has occupied an empty £15m central London property purchased by a Russian oligarch in 2014 and opened it as a homeless shelter.
The extensive, five-storey Grade ll-listed Eaton Square property was bought by Andrey Goncharenko, a little-known oligarch who has bought a number of luxury properties in London in recent years.
The squatters – Autonomous Nation of Anarchist Libertarians, known as ANAL – said they entered the building through an open window on 23 January and have accommodated about 25 homeless people so far, many of whom had been sleeping rough around Victoria station."
Just straight-up quotes this time because everything about this is so utterly delicious.
29th Jan, 2017 - Cute therapy dog helps people with tiny hi-fives
This is probably the shallowest story I've yet shared, but I don't care. Cut dog, gives hi-fives, wears bow ties. What more could you ask for? Well, loads, but deal with it.
28th Jan, 2017 - Two Infants Treated with Universal Immune Cells Have Their Cancer Vanish
"Doctors in London say they have cured two babies of leukemia in the world’s first attempt to treat cancer with genetically engineered immune cells from a donor."
In the immortal words of Rick Sanchez: "Oh shit sonnnnnn"
27th Jan, 2017 - NASA just made all the scientific research it funds available for free
Ok so this is from August 2016, but I *completely* missed it first time around, so there's a chance that some of you did too. In a nutshell, all public research funded by NASA will be made available online at no cost.
It's called PubSpace, and you can find it here.
26th Jan, 2017 - This Fishing Village Held A Tiny, Heartwarming Women’s March
In all the news of the women's march on the first day of the Trump regime, this gorgeous little story almost passed me by: the tiny fishing village in Nova Scotia (population: 65) did their own march, and it was boss.

25th Jan, 2017 - This woman has been given the opportunity to ride a horse one last time.
Parkinson's is a horrible condition, which makes this video - as cheesy as much of the added text is - particularly beautiful. I wish they hadn't scrawled messages saying "FEEL THIS" towards the end, as her smile at the end is wonderful.
